NEW YORK -  A Salem, Mass., native has been selected as the 2008 Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound Enlisted Person of the Year (EPOY) for superior performance of duty Feb. 6, 2009.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Shannon M. Krisko, a Boatswain's Mate stationed at Coast Guard Station Eaton's Neck, was selected based on personal and professional achievements that include the rescue of three men found clinging to lifejackets in Long Island Sound Sept. 9, 2008, as well as serving as the unit's Rescue and Survival petty officer. This honor is awarded annually to a member of the Coast Guard assigned to units within Sector Long Island Sound after a careful review of performance records and recommendations.

Krisko is also recognized for assuming several collateral duties, including serving as liaison for Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 22-07 and the unit's morale officer, organizing and participating in several morale events.

Krisko currently resides in Northport, N.Y., with husband Matthew P. Krisko and daughter Lorelai M. Krisko. She completed basic training in May of 2005.
