NEW YORK - In these photos by the U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Marine Safety and Security Team Boston, Coast Guard Station New York, the New Jersey State Police, New York City Police Department, New York Fire Department, and several tug boats escort the Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) New York as the ship sails into New York Harbor Monday, Nov. 2, 2009.

The amphibious transport dock (LPD 21), laid with seven and a half tons of steel from the World Trade Center in its bow, will be comissioned in a ceremony at the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum Nov. 7. It is the sixth Navy ship to bear the name New York.

The Coast Guard conducts safety and security escorts regularly with its port partners throughout the Port of New York/New Jersey.
