MONTAUK, N.Y. - The fishing vessel Shamrock makes way toward New Bedford, Mass., as it takes on water through heavy seas and strong winds approximately 60 miles southeast of Long Island, N.Y., Saturday, March 31, 2012. NEW YORK – Coast Guard officers, crew and cadets marched up Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue in the 92nd Annual New York City Veterans Day Parade, Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. The parade included participation by 28 active military units from all branches, veterans groups as well as high school bands from around the country. Coast Guard assists sailing vessel 60 miles off Sandy Hook

SANDY HOOK, N.J. – A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crewmember helped dewater and stabilize a sailboat with 2 people on board and taking on water 60 miles southeast of Sandy Hook, N.J., June 29, 2010.

The captain of the 35-foot sailing vessel Holo Kiki contacted Sector New York at approximately 11 a.m. via marine band radio stating the vessel was taking on water.

A Coast Guard rescue helicopter and crew from Atlantic City arrived on scene shortly after, and deployed a rescue swimmer who provided a dewatering pump, helped plugged the leak, and assisted the master with stabilizing the vessel.

A Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat rescue crew from Station Sandy Hook is escorting the Holo Kiki to the nearest safe port.
